When Jen Jarvis overhears a violent argument on the public footpath behind her cottage, she has no idea it will end in murder, a murder she becomes entangled in when the police discover a note with her name and address scrawled on it in the dead man's pocket.

Jen hasn't a clue who he is, or why he was coming to see her. Plagued by the police and haunted by the dead man, she craves answers and sets out to establish the connection between them. But the more she unearths, the more she finds herself embroiled in a sinister mystery.

Deadly Connections eBook Plain Jane

I dislike being the minority, but apparently I am. What did I like about this book? Well, it was well written, few typos, a really good, fresh plot, and pretty good characters. The heroine, in fact, was so well characterized that I disliked her intensely: she was wishy-washy and anxiety-ridden, which was well done because it made me anxious as well. Why was she anxious? That was the big question. At one point, you think you know why...then you find out at the very end that there wasn't just one reason for her anxiety. In fact, the big reveal really pi**ed me off. It absolutely doesn't make sense that she was not open to police to begin with. NO REASON...unless she was just the wishy-washy character I thought she was. And her first reason for being anxious? It was pretty stupid of her not to have just taken a deep breath and told her boyfriend about it. It all seemed very contrived to me. When she and her boyfriend find a threatening message for the heroine, do they take a photo of it? No, of course not. No one uses their cell phones to take pictures. Interesting that in another scene, her 70-something neighbor (FYI: I LOVED Izzy) whips out her camera and takes pictures of evidence. Apparently, I'm in the minority here. No more Plain Jane efforts for me.

Deadly Connections eBook Plain Jane Reviews

This was a great mystery, a real page turner. One evening Jen Jarvis hears men fighting and then hears a man shouting. She chooses to ignore it, rather than call for help. The next day, the police inform her that the man is dead. He had a paper with her name and address on it, but she has not idea who he is. They show her a picture of him, but she does not recognize him. Could hardly put this down, and there were quite a few surprises. I loved it.
Really entertaining read. Great characterization and scene setting. Didn't want to put it down. Thought I had figured out 'whodunit' a couple of times along the way but was completely wrong. Kept me guessing to the end.
I loved this book. Started reading on a long-haul flight and had to finish it as soon as I arrived at the hotel. I immediately found myself invested in the characters. I'm not normally a murder-mystery reader, but I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Can't wait for Plain Jane's next novel.
I like it because it kept me reading and I didn't want to put the book down.I highly recommend it to adults if they like mystery suspense. It has romance, mystery, suspense in it.
Horrible. Obvious but with a lame surprising ending
A very interesting old-fashioned style of writing makes this book really different. It was hard to figure out with a surprising finish.
Jennifer and her neighbor succeed in finding clues on their own!
This writer is a skilled writer. The plot is good. Characterization is good, and it is a very interesting book up until near the end. Then the reader is cheated! The reader realizes throughout the book that there is an undisclosed secret. However, after the secret is known, the plot breaks down; the main character is no longer whom she seems to be, and the love interest is left up in the air. I do not recommend this book and I am sorry I wasted time on it.
