I bought this on the UK site because it was one of the cheapest Zanzibar travel guides around, but it gave me what I needed which was a lot of practical information about the place in a short space. It has all the regular guidebook stuff, like a history of Zanzibar, visas, vaccinations, how to get there by air and by sea, music, culture, festivals, and so on.
What I found refreshing, though, is that the author mixes the practical guidebook information with some personal travelogue stuff. You know that she's been there and done that, as she describes encounters with shopkeepers, and buying something that sounds quite bizarre but she assures us is delicious - banana chocolate pizza. She even describes being ripped off when going to catch the ferry to Zanzibar, which is a useful tip for travellers and something most guidebook writers would never admit to!
The book isn't very long but it covers all the main attractions and has plenty of photos too. There are a few typos, which I hope the author corrects in the next edition, but they didn't really spoil the read. For the price, I was impressed.
